John Sutton, Dartware’s Director of Sales and Partner Development, is quick to credit help from both the US Commercial Service and New Hampshire’s International Trace Resource Center (NHITRC) for the company’s ability to form productive partnerships around the world. Since its founding in 2000, Dartware has increased its international sales to 30% of annual revenue. Dartware’s InterMapper, network monitoring software, and InterMapper Flows, NetFlow analyzer, are on the market in over 80 countries.

The US Commercial Service’s Gold Key programs helped Sutton meet with prospective partners in Canada, Australia, Greece, and Egypt. “The Gold Key Service is essentially matchmaking for vendors and distributors,” explains Sutton. “The service helps me focus on partners that meet Dartware’s criteria for network expertise, exceptional customer service, and market reach. The Gold Key has saved us valuable resources and given us additional credibility in the eyes of the potential buyer.” This year, Sutton will use the Gold Key Service to vet partners in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Spain.

Dartware is also engaging in software localization in order to expand its presence in the Latin American and Chinese markets. Other language options are planned for the future.

“I’ve learned you’re never too small to export,” says Sutton. “International diversification should be an integral part of a successful business strategy if you want to stay competitive in today’s global marketplace. We’re growing. It’s fair to say the US Commercial Service is key to our success. They’ve helped us knock on all the right doors.”
